Choosing the Right Geolocation Database
The other day (to be specific around mid April), I had to re-evaluate the accuracy of available Geolocation Database that we can use for our application and the result isn't as what we consider an accurate as we thought it should be. For the case study I tested varies IP using IP2Nation, Maxmind and IP2Location. Result after the jump.
Opera Mini vs iPhone
Opera Mini putting the first punch before iPhone, but one thing for sure I would like to ask Opera Mini; Do they have Ajax support yet?

Test Driving Advertlets.com
Do I need to introduce Advertlets.com? People from Malaysia should have heard of Advertlets.com and it's competitor Nuffnang, Malaysian only two company focusing on internet advertisement. Some time ago I did one week test drive with Nuffnang and the result doesn't seem promising so I bailed out. At the same time I never register with Advertlets.com as it lack ads format other that the AJAXed Poll Ads (with Prototype.js and Scriptaculous.js) which is overated considering that you need to load almost 100KB with just some effect.
Recently Advertlets.com introduce a lite ads format without polls, and I feel it time for me to take that test drive I been neglecting before. As a result here some of my finding and opinion for Advertlets.com.
A Day Without Internet
Today was suppose to be like any other day but as I reach the office I notice the internet was quite slow for comfort. Locally hosted website can be reachable but almost every internationally hosted website were and still affected including ChronoSight. As most common Malaysian Internet User would conclude that TMNet (or best known as TMNut) were AGAIN having problem with the international DNS but this time they were the culprit.

Thanks to fellow forumer at Lowyat.NET Forum as well as Jaring for the early announcement notifying the users regarding the issue unlike the #1 Broadband ISP which were late. Well by the time my office completely lost any internet access there no official announcement from TMNet, ironically I did YM a friend of mine whom work with TMNet (but under Wireless Hotspot department), I asked her how was her internet and she answer there no problem.
